Car Show 4 Kids

When a car show raises funds for a good cause, of course it has special meaning. When a car show is considered a charity event giving 100% of the proceeds to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, it’s more than a win-win. Thats exactly what Car Show 4 Kids is all about. With massive sponsors, donations, and hosts, this annual fundraiser seems to double in size as each year goes by. At least the last couple years i’ve attended…

an organization set up to provide help and raise money for those in need. 2. the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need.

Started in 2013 by Ed Britz after a suggestion from his daughter, he took what was previously a motorcycle ride fundraiser and developed a car show for the kids too. Ed has been participating in the Puget Sound Ride For Kids for over 20 years. He owns a 1980 Goldwing with a sidecar and after meeting some of the patients and their families, became hooked seeing the joy it brought to such a great cause, especially after giving them rides. It takes some truly selfless and thoughtful type people to invest so much time, energy, and love towards others in need, with no expectations. To top it off, bringing the motorsports community as a whole, closer together. Events like this bare no judgement or discrimination whatsoever. Hotrods, ratrods, muscle cars, trucks, motorcycles, imports, domestics, etc. If it has wheels, it’s not only allowed- it’s respected. All are welcome.

Of course, a show with hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators doesn’t get planned overnight. Coordination between Ed, his wife Pennie, and daughter Kaylee help put it together, and the day of- family and friends help out. More of those amazing people. Many sponsors also contribute (with a core of 5-6 that help every year) to the donations, registrations, raffles, and sales. This is a full day of fun for all with a bake sale, live music, food trucks, blood drive, trophies, pin-up girls, and more! To date (2013-2021) the total amount raised for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is in excess of $80,000! What an amazing accomplishment, thanks to everyone who’s been involved in every way. If you plan your summer show season, mark this one on your calendar. Reliably held every 3rd Saturday in July in the Pierce County area, it won’t disappoint. And you can make a difference just by showing up. For more information, visit their Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/CarShow4Kids/. Thank you, Ed, for starting all of this, and for answering my questions. I hope that my coverage takes this as far as it deserves to go. Help Us Help The Kids!
